My name is Cydian and I am a mediator.  

I’ve been thinking a lot about what my philosophy as a mediator is.  And how to explain what I do.  Here’s what I’ve come up with, feel free to add on after you’ve worked with me!

 

My job is to remain calm in the face of any storm.  

To listen to any communication without judgement.

To empathize and do my best to diminish friction.  

To pull together ideas your ideas and put them in front of you so you can more easily make choices.

To be in the middle of a war while remaining objective and impartial.  

All of that sounds dramatic, sometimes it is, but in another sense it is very simple.  I make sure you are heard and that they are heard.  

And then, if we can, together we make agreements.  

 

In the end it may seem to you that I did a lot.  But the secret you will never know is that you did all the work.
